About

I am a trilingual third-year student at Carleton University studying Computer Science with a focus on Computer & Internet Security and a minor in Biology.

From the moment I used a computer for the first time as a child, I have always been enthralled with the developing capabilities of technology, from providing immediate face-to-face communication with someone living across the world, to passively detecting heart abnormalities on our wrists with prevalent and non-intrusive devices such as smartwatches. Personally experiencing these life-changing impacts, I strive to have a career developing accessible technology that will create profound impacts on our daily lives, whether it be simply working on the smartphones we rely on daily, or incorporating and simplifying healthcare technology into our devices.

Jack.org Carleton

Jack.org Carleton

First-Year Representative

October 2020 – April 2021 (7 months)

With the sudden and drastic changes to daily life caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the importance of mental health has been emphasized more than ever. In particular, the pandemic has negatively affected students in a multitude of ways, including changes to the learning environment, limited access to facilities, reduced social connections, financial difficulties, and more. However, despite these consequences, the mental health and well-being of students seem to remain deprioritized or even forgotten about, such that, to this day, suicide unfortunately remains as one of the leading causes of death among young people worldwide. As such, I worked with the Jack.org Carleton team to help students better understand mental health as a whole, to help advocate for students living with conditions, and to help encourage positive mental health in the community.

As a First-Year Representative for the executive team, my general tasks included:

  • Recognizing and representing the needs of first-year students to the executive team
  • Collaborating with other executive members to develop, advertise, and execute programming that targets the mental health and well-being of all students
  • Partnering with other school organizations and services to target students
